A Romantic poet
It is an accredited opinion, the historian Pietro Vigo tells us, that Ugo Foscolo (1778- 1827) stayed near Montenero in the villa known as del Buffone, a building of Medici origin which stands on the road that leads from Ardenza to Montenero and which belonged to the Armenian princes Mirman Aructium. It is believed that Foscolo stayed there in 1813, although Vigo states that:
