Horace Coclite

The Etruscan army heads towards the Sublicio bridge, if the Etruscan king Lars Porsenna, supreme lucumone of Chiusi, encamped on the Janiculum, manages to cross the river, Rome will be his.

At the entrance to the bridge there is only one Roman soldier: Horace, called Coclite because he is blind in one eye. He has the sword drawn and takes up the shield, alone he defeats many enemies.

On the other bank of the river some Roman soldiers knock down the supports of the bridge with their axes. “Cut”, Horace shouts, then throws himself into the river and swims over to his companions…
