The Andrea Sgarallino was a passenger ship launched by the Luigi Orlando shipyard in Livorno. Since 1930, it has been commuting between Piombino and Portoferraio. It owes its name to Andrea Sgarallino from Livorno, hero of the riots of 1848.

In1943, during the Second World War, it was requisitioned by the Royal Navy, armed, with camouflage livery, and used for military services.
